Letter from Mission President
February 28, 2013
Dear Brother and Sister Mecham,
We are thrilled to inform you that your daughter, Sister Ashley Nicole Mecham, has arrived safely in the Philippines Manila Mission! She is well and sends her love and best greetings to you.  After spending a short time with us in the mission home for interviews and new missionary orientation, she was assigned to work with her trainer, Sister Hunt in the Puerto Princesa District of the Puerto Princesa Zone. We are truly excited to have your daughter serve the Lord with us here in the Philippines.  The people of the land are so warm and friendly, and your daughter will quickly grow to love and appreciate them.
As you may know, missionary work can be quite demanding. To help maintain a positive attitude for your daughter, communication from family and friends is especially important and should always be supportive. Please write or e-mail each week and make your message optimistic and encouraging. Please avoid references to problems at home unless absolutely necessary and always show genuine interest in her daily activities, accomplishments, and successes.
If any question should arise about the health or welfare of your missionary, please check with the mission office before you do anything. Do not send money to anyone who might request funds in behalf of your missionary without talking to the Mission President directly.
We will do everything possible to help your daughter achieve her full potential as one of the Lord's servants. There are many opportunities for success and with the help of the Lord we are confident that your daughter will have a wonderful and successful mission.
Please know that Sister Stucki and I will love her.  We regularly review each missionary's situation and needs at zone conference and at scheduled personal interviews. The missionaries also keep me informed through their weekly reports. Your missionary is in the hands of the Lord and under His protection (Matt. 28:19-20).
           Sincerely,
           Lyle J. Stucki,
           President Philippines Manila Mission
